Block Puzzle

original post:

Pintrest:

Around Christmas 2011 the hubs finally got a job after graduating with his masters degree! (yay!!!) but that meant that we could not go to Roswell the day after to celebrate with his side of the family. All of his cousins are starting to have kids and we have become the fun cousins (they also nicknamed me "Morgwin").  we send the boys some cars, but we knew we wanted to send something fun for the girls (age 4-2) that they could play with for years...then i came across the block puzzle!!!!

we decided to make 3 different puzzles for each of the girls. i didn't take a lot of pictures of the process, but it was hard work! we bought a 1x1 and cut it into blocks (this is where Hubs came in handy) i then spray painted each block white...individually.

Then i hand drew a design on all four sides in different colors. If you lack drawing skills you can print out a design from the internet like the original tutorial does. i made sure to not repeat colors so the kids would not get confused. i even included their names on one side so they could figure out which block belonged to which puzzle. i tried to figure out their favorite animal to include on one side. yes, i used glitter...yes, it was everywhere...yes, i felt like i was back in the sorority!!

Everyone at Christmas said that the older girls had a lot of fun putting them together with the help of the parents. the younger ones had fun stacking them. oh well...

Would i do this project again? yes... but i would use more uniform blocks, mine had round edges and that drove me nuts when i was painting.

Creamy Avocado Pasta

First Pintrest post!

I will always give credit where credit is due
here is the actaul reciept i used:

Here is the link to my pintrest post

I found this reciept a while ago and forced my husband to make it (he is a better cook, but doesnt know how to use a measuring cup) it turned out ok the first time (he used a full lemon...sour), So this time i made some minor changes and this is how it turned out:
These are all the ingredients:

1 medium sized ripe Avocado, pitted
1/2 lemon, juiced + lemon zest to garnish
2-3 garlic cloves, to taste (I used 3 and it was quite garlicky, but if you are not a big fan of garlic use 1 clove)
1/2 tsp kosher salt, or to taste
~1/4 cup Fresh Basil, (probably optional)
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
2 servings/6 oz of your choice of pasta (I used 3oz of spelt and 3 oz of Kamut spaghetti)
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

 Cook the pasta
food process the garlic, oil and garlic (i thought there was too much oil last time, so i only put in 1 3/4 tbsp
Then Mix in the Avacado, lemon and basil. I used an extra 1/4 an avacado and only 3/4 of the lemon
once everything is made, mix together and whala....deliciousness!!

My husband loves his super lemony, so he squeezed more lemon into his. i LOVE my food spicy, so i sprinkled in some Red Pepper flakes...YUMMY!!! the Hubs is always craving this pasta, and it is SUPER fast to make!!
